The University of Pittsburgh has announced its annual Women in Engineering Day. Interested students should check their school district email for information and a link to registration. Deadline: February 22, 2019
Girls Interested in Medicine & Engineering Careers: Girls in grades 10-12, who are interested in medicine and engineering careers are encouraged to apply for an upcoming Perry Outreach Program, which will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. The Perry Outreach Program is a free, one-day, hands-on experience for high school women who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine and engineering. Students will hear from women leaders in these fields and try it for themselves by performing mock surgeries and biomechanics experiments. Waynesburg University is offering a Sports Announcing and Sports Journalism Camp. Students can access information through their Naviance accounts. Deadline: April 26, 2019 or until all spaces are filled.
Waynesburg University is inviting students to participate in their Mock Trial Crime Scene Workshop held on March 16, 2019. Waynesburg University is also offering a CSI Summer Camp to be held in June. Interested students are encouraged to check their Home Page in Naviance for additional information. Registration is required for both programs.
The Builders Guild of Western PA will be hosting a skilled trades career fair at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center on Friday, March 29, 2019. Interested students should contact Mrs. Whalen in the Guidance Office.
Summer Discovery is a pre-college enrichment program for high school and middle school students that combine academics with fun, activities, and sports. Courses are taught by university faculty. The Engineering Summer Academy at Penn (ESAP) welcomes highly motivated and talented students to explore Engineering at the college level. This program is open to rising 10th-12th graders. Additional information, including applications can be found on their website.
The Alcoa Foundation is partnering with NatureBridge – a trusted nonprofit organization that provides hands-on environmental field science education for teens in national parks – to send 55 16-18 year olds from Alcoa communities around the globe to experience Yosemite National Park in California or Shenandoah National Park in Virginia for two weeks this summer. Deadline: March 4, 2019
Scholarship Applications for graduating seniors will be available online beginning Monday, March 4. The Pine-Richland Opportunities Fund is offering 20 unique scholarships, totaling approximately $46,500, thanks to the generosity of community members and organizations.
