AF-JRTOC Earns 2nd Overall at Drill Competition

AFJROTC The Pine-Richland High School Air Force ROTC Drill Team competed at McDowell High School in Erie, PA on November 11, 2017.   Chief Michael Gasparetto says despite this being a challenging competition, the team took many top awards:
 
- 1st Place finish for JV Unarmed Drill Team commanded by Cadet Henry Gaffey
- 1st Place finish for Varsity Armed Drill Team commanded by Cadet Matt Zirckel
- 2nd Place finish for JV Armed Drill Team commanded by Cadet Gavin Bierma
- 2nd Place finish for JV Color Guard commanded by Cadet Blake Briski
- 2nd Place finish for Varsity Unarmed Drill Team commanded by Cadet Mike Dye
- 2nd Place finish for Female Color Guard commanded by Cadet Lily Nicotra
- 2nd Place finish for Unarmed Inspection Team commanded by Cadet Matt Zirckel
- 3rd Place finish for Unarmed Exhibition Team commanded by Cadet Mike Dye
 
All this effort earned the team an overall second place finish, one spot up from last year.
 
Additionally, the team had three cadets place in knockout:
 
- Cadet Matt Zirckel placed 9th among all cadets
- Cadets Gavin Bierma placed 6th among all cadets
- Cadet Madison Howard placed 1st among all First Year Cadets
 
"As you can see, we did well and the cadets had a lot of fun," said Chief Gasparetto. "Thanks to those parents who were able to attend the drill meet...(their) support was very much appreciated."
