Many will see a familiar face in Pittsburgh’s new marketing campaign, which was launched on April 23, 2019, by VisitPittsburgh.
Pine-Richland High School Art Teacher Ramon Riley is featured in the video aimed at promoting Pittsburgh. Mr. Riley is a studio director of Radiant Hall Nova Place, which is located near the Children’s Museum. He had just completed an exhibition of new works called “LOVENEVERENDING.”
Mr. Riley said the exhibition was an “ode to Pittsburgh and the community, so it was a natural fit for the video, which welcomes the world to pull up a chair and have a seat in Pittsburgh. All eyes will be on familiar Pittsburgh stops as neighbors pull up a chair and make all feel welcomed in the Steel City.
“I was called while I was working on a commission, and within 30 minutes I was being filmed,” Mr. Riley said. “I was honored to be asked to participate. We need the message and teachings of Mr. Rogers now more than ever.”
The video was filmed by VisitPittsburgh, which is Allegheny County’s official tourism promotion agency.
The video will have a large audience since it will be played above Times Square on the big board and will be included in the introduction of the Mr. Rogers movie, “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.” The movie will play over a four-week span in Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C.
The agency is also targeting other cities like Boston, Chicago, Indianapolis, San Francisco & Tampa as well with the promotional campaign.
