The Pine-Richland High School AFJROTC spent time interacting with students in Cambodia this summer.
The cadets traveled to Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand from June 28, 2019, through July 10, 2019.
Major Chief Michael Gasparetto said the crew spent 47 hours traveling to Vietnam. The cadets made some observations about their travels. He said that Ho Chi Minh City was very busy, but Siem Reap, Cambodia was more easy-going. They learned that Cambodia was very underdeveloped compared to Ho Chi Minh. He described Bangkok, Thailand as similar to New York because of the traffic and how expensive things were.
When Mr. Gasparetto and the rest of cadets visited Sisophon, Cambodia they visited the Oambel Primary School for students K-8 and interacted with the students.
Those who went said the trip was life-changing.
Mr. Gasperetto told his cadets after visiting this school to “never again complain about how they might think about their surroundings. They are truly fortunate!”
