All three also will receive medals for finishing in the top 15.
Both finishes are the best for each team since 1998 when Pine-Richland moved up to AAA in cross country!
The last girls qualifying spot was 12th place and the last boys qualifying spot was 15th place.
Coach Mark Hunkele said this year has been more difficult than ever to make states because of the reduction in teams and individuals due to COVID-19. The PRHS Girls Team qualified for states but do not get to go because of the reduced qualification. Runner Elizabeth Hunkele also would have qualified for states individually with her 23rd place finish.
“If things were normal this year, girls in the top 26 would have qualified individually and boys in the top 29 would have qualified individually,” said Coach Hunkele.
He said the course at WPIALs was muddy and messy due to all of the rain.
