Cheer Team to Compete at States & Nationals

The PRHS Competitive Cheerleaders competed at the PIAA Competitive Spirit Championship on January 28 and qualified for finals on January 29.  The team made it to the semi-final round of the competition. There were 39 AAA small varsity teams in the team's division and only 50% of the teams made it to the second day of the competition.

The PRHS Competitive Cheer Squad qualified for the National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC) be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla., on February 11-13, 2022.

The team qualified for NHSCC at a regional competition on November 14, 2021, at Slippery Rock University to compete in the small varsity division against teams from around the country.

Team members include seniors Amanda Marburger, Abby DeWick, Sarah Vigna, Carly Newport, and Lily Maurer; junior Lucy Kimmel; sophomores  Sophia Gierl, Ava Spaccapoii, Nina Didiano, Chole Montani, Brynn Cassidy, Kate Chrystal, and Lauren Wood; and ninth-graders Macie Boyd, Taylor Brown, Hailey Hagmaier and Kailyn Goltz.

The competitive team is coached by Amanda Kerestes and Casey Lux, volunteer.

The team won first in the AAA small varsity division and placed fourth overall out of all AAA cheer teams regardless of squad size at the WPIAL competitive spirit championships on January 8, 2022, at Hempfield Area Hgh School. The team received a bid to the PIAAs as well.
