Senior Selected for Professional Team

playerPine-Richland High School senior Reid Duncan has been selected to join the 2022 Pittsburgh Thunderbirds professional ultimate disc team. He is one of the youngest players to ever join the team. 
Reid fell in love with ultimate at an early age after watching and throwing with his older brother, Eliot, and he became a dedicated and accomplished player. He hopes to attend and play for Pitt, where he is currently waitlisted.
The Thunderbirds’ first game is April 30 against the Detroit Mechanix.
Reid’s history with ultimate:
  • Contracted to play for the 2022 Pittsburgh Thunderbirds (Pittsburgh’s pro team) in the American Ultimate Disk League (AUDL)
  • One season with the Pittsburgh Stealers, a men’s club team
  • Six years on Pine-Richland’s varsity team
  • Pine-Richland Boys varsity co-captain 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 
  • Pine-Richland Boys JV captain, 2020
  • Two years as the ultimate team’s own ram mascot “Ramburger” before he was old enough to officially join team
  • Competed at state play-offs 3 years 
  • Competed 3x in Pittsburgh High School Ultimate League (PHUL) championship game; regional champs 2x
  • Represented Pittsburgh region twice at national Youth Club Championships in Minnesota (prior to Covid)
  • Attended local and national training camps
  • Worked with nonprofit Inspired Hearts and Hands to introduce the sport of ultimate to elementary school students in an after-school program for underprivileged children in Butler, PA
  • High school liaison on Pittsburgh Ultimate’s Community Integration Committee
