Optional Parent Meeting/EH Visitation

Hance Message to Families (Optional Parent Meeting, Visitation of EH, and Medication & Lunch Info)
August 26, 2018

Dear Parents of Hance Elementary Students,

Thank you again for your understanding and cooperation with the postponed start of school at Hance Elementary. This message is designed to clarify information about the optional parent meeting tomorrow night, introduce a visitation opportunity and provide some additional details. Please take some time to carefully review this entire letter.

An optional parent meeting will be held on Monday, August 27th at 6:30 p.m. in the Pine-Richland High School auditorium. The purpose of the meeting is to specifically review the plans for the first day of school on August 28th. The presentation will include pictures of the classroom set-up for each grade level. We will also show pictures of entrances and pick-up/drop-off procedures. A copy of this presentation will be linked to the Hance website tomorrow night after the meeting.

We have also received several requests for parents to physically visit and tour the classroom locations at Eden Hall that will be used by Hance teachers and students. We will provide a visitation opportunity for Hance parents to visit Eden Hall on Monday, August 27th from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. on Monday night. We cannot arrange the visitation earlier in the day. We need the time during the day for teachers and staff to finish preparations. As mentioned above, we believe parents will feel more confident and comfortable when they hear the presentation and see pictures of the set-up.

We will create an incredibly positive and meaningful educational program for our Hance Elementary students. The teachers and support staff members who make Hance Elementary a special place will be the same teachers and support staff who will welcome your children to Eden Hall. We know that children take their cues from the adults around them. It is our commitment to welcome students to an exciting and positive year. We are resilient. We have the opportunity to make a challenging situation a positive experience. It will take a collaborative effort and positive mindset to accomplish these goals.

Finally, we received some other detailed questions from parents about medications and lunch. All medications that have already been received will be transported from Hance to Eden Hall by our school nurse. If a parent needs to drop-off medications, they will deliver those medications to Eden Hall. We have a process to receive and document those needs. In addition, students will be able to pack their lunch or buy lunch similar to a regular day. We have many people working diligently to provide every specific element of the regular school program to Hance students beginning on Tuesday.
