Expansion and renovation plans for Pine-Richland High School moved forward Monday when the school board approved a developer's agreement and gave the administration permission to advertise for bids for the project.

The school board voted in April to authorize a maximum of $41.7 million to be spent on the project as part of the Act 34 process, which required the board to schedule a public hearing on the construction project and its costs.

The approval to advertise for bids allows the administration to get paperwork in order before the formal request for bids go out at the end of this month or early next month, said Superintendent Dr. Mary Bucci.

The developer's agreement between Pine and the Pine-Richland School District is typical for any development in the township, in that it details plans for the site, including traffic improvements. Pine's Board of Supervisors approved the plan in May.

The school board's vote to award the contract most likely will occur in late September or October, Dr. Bucci said, with a groundbreaking in October.
