In July, we indicated an intentional “pause” on redistricting communications to allow our staff and families to focus on and transition into the instructional models and new procedures associated with starting school in the midst of a global pandemic. With the new school year underway, we wanted to provide an update on this key strategic initiative. The work up until this point has been archived on our website.
Over the summer and into September, Thomas & Williamson, LLC, and Davis Demographics utilized the redistricting criteria to develop scenarios based upon the results of the demographic study, including our 10-year enrollment projections and the capacity and utilization of our facilities. The conclusion of that work yielded two scenarios for consideration.
The scenarios will be reviewed as a portion of the upcoming board meetings and discussed more fully during the committee meeting set for October 19, 2020. We will plan additional updates for the community as the process progresses, yet anticipate holding a virtual town hall question/answer session on November 4, 2020, for which additional details will be shared closer to that date. These scenarios are built upon data and utilize the criteria agreed upon in advance. The ultimate goal is to optimize the delivery of our instructional programming in an equitable manner across our K-3 schools to allow us to focus on learning for every student, every day.
With Gratitude & Respect,
Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education and Curriculum
