COVID-19 Educational Model Weekly Update
March 12, 2021
Dear PRSD Students, Parents/Guardians, and Staff:
COVID-19 Educational Continuum Model & Selection Results
To appropriately plan for this shift, all families in grades 4 - 12 were asked to complete a selection survey. You can click here for the results of the selection survey. As we phase in more students in the 100% in-person model, the timeline is as follows:
- March 18: Eden Hall (Grades 4-6) and Seniors (Class of 2021)
- March 29- April 5: Spring Break (All)
- April 8: Middle School (Grades 7-8) and High School (Grades 9-11)
A-K and L-Z days are still marked on the district calendar for those still participating in the alternating in-person/virtual model.
A message was sent to K-3 families yesterday about any shifts in classroom physical distancing procedures and can be found on the district website.
Conditions and Cases
Given the shift in CDC use of indicators, we will transition away from the weekly holistic dashboard. The revised ACHD Dashboard reflects reporting of conditions and the PADOH COVID-19 Dashboard can also be viewed at the source. For a PRSD case count-to-date and the rolling 14-Day case count per building update, please click here.
Vaccination Plan for School Personnel
For community awareness, PK - 12 school personnel are now eligible for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. PRSD employees and other school-related personnel will have the opportunity to receive the vaccine. Clinics will be established at Intermediate Units throughout Pennsylvania. The first set of employee vaccinations are scheduled to begin next week. Clinic hours should have a minimal impact on school operations.
Updated Travel Procedures
As a result of the governor’s order in early March of 2021, the quarantine period for individuals engaging in out-of-state travel has been lifted. Students currently in a 10-day period of quarantine following travel, are permitted to return so long as they remain asymptomatic. Families will no longer be asked to complete the post-travel forms.
However, if you are traveling internationally, you are required to have a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before you board a flight to the United States. In addition to that test, you need another negative COVID-19 test 3-5 days after you return and need to quarantine for 7 days even if it's negative to monitor for symptoms. Documentation should be shared with the school nurse regarding your child's negative COVID-19 test. Documents can be scanned and emailed to the nurse. See the Frequently Asked Questions for more information.
Individuals traveling inside and outside of the U.S. are encouraged to practice the Big 3 in a disciplined manner. Monitoring for symptoms consistent with COVID-19 is a critical step each morning, regardless of whether or not you have traveled. Masks are required on planes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation traveling into, within, or out of the United States and in U.S. transportation hubs such as airports and stations.
Attendance at Sporting Events
Spring sports began officially on March 8th. Once again, our coaches have developed health and safety plans aligned with the district's plan but modified based upon the unique design of each sport. It will take the collective efforts of all involved to be consistently disciplined in implementing those plans. As we shared before indoor event limits are set at 15% of capacity and outdoor events at 20%. Spring coaches are ensuring families are aware of spectator guidelines/limits prior to each event.
