November 10, 2021
Greetings to Pine-Richland Students, Parents and Staff,
Earlier this afternoon, we received notice of a Commonwealth Court ruling holding that the mask mandate issued by the Pennsylvania Acting Secretary of Health was “void and unenforceable.” At this time, we have not received additional clarification from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Pennsylvania Department of Education or Allegheny County Health Department.
To help ensure clear and timely communication, the Pine-Richland School District Health & Safety Plan, approved at the August 16, 2021 meeting, is still in place. As part of that plan, indoor masking is required for students, staff and visitors. Per the CDC, Allegheny County remains at the high transmission level.
We continue to monitor conditions and cases within the district. Additional guidance will be provided as more details are known.
Thank you for your attention to this matter as we navigate the ever-changing landscape together.
Sincerely,
Pine-Richland School District
