Health & Safety Update: Next Steps

ContinuityApril 11, 2022

Dear PRSD Students, Staff and Parents,

As we continue into spring and the upcoming break, we hope that each of you is well. The challenges of the past two years have been significant. We know that those challenges have impacted people in very different ways both personally and professionally. This brief update is designed to summarize current conditions and outline next steps related to health and safety.

The COVID-19 incidence rate continues to decline for Allegheny County and is at the lowest level since mid-July 2021. Per CDC, our county remains at the “low” designation level. At Pine-Richland specifically, positive cases for students and staff remain at extremely low levels. We have now averaged less than 0.5 case per day for two weeks and less than 1.0 case per day for over a month.

If cases continue to be low, we anticipate returning the cafeteria to regular operations on April 20th following spring break. The timeline for this communication is designed to give building administrators the opportunity to plan. It is also an opportunity for those families with children and/or family situations that require support to request and prepare for an alternate cafeteria location.

We also encourage more ridership on the bus. We are so thankful for the support of families over the past two years to reduce the number of students on the bus. Given the low incidence rate of cases, this step to increase ridership should streamline arrival-dismissal for parent drop-off and pick-up.

Thank you again for your support and patience over the past two years.

Sincerely,
Pine-Richland School District
