Stacy Siegal Tells Students the Path to Success is Not Always Straight

On October 9th, Pine-Richland FBLA kicked off it’s 2017-2018 Speaker Series with Mrs. Stacy Siegal. Mrs. Siegal shared her own personal success story with students as well as advice on carving their own paths in the world. One thing Mrs. Siegal made very clear is that someone’s career can take multiple twists and turns before landing in a satisfying place, referring to her own career as “more of a jungle gym than a ladder.” She explained that, when someone comes to realize they aren’t happy in their career path, success will come in taking a leap towards something they find more rewarding. As students who will soon be attending college and choosing our own careers, Mrs. Siegal reminds us that it’s never too late to change our paths if we find ourselves in this situation. During her talk, Mrs. Siegal also emphasized the importance of communication skills in the workforce and some suggestions on how to improve weak communication skills. She suggests that when an opportunity to speak publicly arises, no matter how big or small, you should always take it. Just as with any other skill, practice makes perfect. Mrs. Siegal also left PR FBLA with some practical advice on something most students dread: interviews. Mrs. Siegal herself conducts interviews frequently, and shared that interviewers are not out to get you, but instead really want to like you. Therefore, don’t be afraid to be authentic, because interviewers will almost always ask you about something that makes you happy or something you love to do.

Thank you to Mrs. Siegal for sharing her personal experiences and professional advice with PR FBLA.
