Student Earns Prestigious Internship at McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine

Student Senior Makenna Laffey has been selected for a prestigious internship at the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine. The internship was open to only one senior in Allegheny County. She is planning to attend Georgia Tech for Engineering in the fall and eventually plans to attend medical school to pursue a major in Biomedical Engineering. She credits her science teachers for instilling in her the love of science. 

The McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine is developing therapies in the areas of Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials, Cell-Based Therapies, and Medical Devices and Artificial Organs.  

This internship provides an opportunity for the participant to spend four weeks learning first-hand about regenerative medicine research and scientific investigations in general.
