School Counselors follow the standards of the American School Counselor Association and provide short term counseling to students to help them navigate their school day.  This is offered individually or in groups.

The following groups through parent sign up will be offered this year:  New Student lunch, Grief & Loss and Coping with Big Feelings. Groups meet one time per cycle for about 4-6 weeks.  Groups will meet during lunch, explore, or on a rotating schedule during classes so students do not miss the same content area.  Every effort is made to hold groups outside of instructional time.

New Student Lunches: Are you new to the district?  Counselors will gather all new students in each grade who are interested in participating for lunch for a total of 4 sessions to help ensure a positive adjustment to Eden Hall!

Grief & Loss: Partnering with the Highmark Caring Place or using the curriculum that has been provided by the Caring Place, we will hold groups for students who have experienced the death of a loved one.  The goal of the group is for your child to be provided with space to talk about their loved ones and feel supported by peers who have also experienced loss.

Coping with Big Feelings at or about School:  Does school make your child anxious?  Does your child make frequent trips to the nurse?  Have they been tearful in class?  Do they have difficulty following directions or transitioning to new activities?  Do they struggle with managing their worries?  Mindfulness strategies and calming techniques will be taught in this group.

If you would like your child to participate in either of these groups, please complete the form to indicate your consent for participation.  One of the counselors will contact you with further information and details once the form closes on September 16, 2022.  Please contact your child’s grade level counselor if you have any questions about the groups offered.
