Class of 2016 Graduation Details
April 27, 2016

Dear Students and Families of the Class of 2016:

Congratulations to the Class of 2016!  There are many exciting events occurring over the next few weeks to celebrate your graduation from Pine-Richland High School.  Please carefully review this letter. We have included all of the important dates and events occurring over your final weeks as a student of the Pine-Richland School District.

The Class of 2016 Graduation Ceremony will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. on the field at Pine-Richland Stadium.  The address is 704 Warrendale Rd. in Gibsonia.  In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held indoors in the high school auditorium.

In order to participate in the graduation ceremony the following criteria must be met:
  • Students must have completed graduation requirements by June 3, 2016.  If you feel that you are in danger of not passing one of your classes or not completing the Keystone Exam requirements, be sure to speak to your teacher immediately and contact your guidance counselor.
  • Students must attend school through May 31, 2016.
  • Attendance at graduation practices on June 1 and June 2, 2016 is mandatory.
  • Students must pay in full any debt(s) owed to the school district prior to May 31, 2016.  These debts may include charges such as lost books, athletic uniforms, testing fees, activity fees, cafeteria balances, etc.
  • Students must address any unfulfilled disciplinary consequence such as detention hours prior to June 3, 2016.

Frequently asked questions regarding graduation:

What if a senior does not wish to participate in the graduation ceremony?
The parent of a student who does not wish to participate in the ceremony must submit a written note to the high school office by Wednesday, May 25, 2016.  Once a note has been received and verified, the student will be excused from attending rehearsals and will not be included in the graduation ceremony.  Students not participating in the ceremony may pick up their diploma and cap/gown at the high school office after Monday, June 6, 2016.

What if the ceremony is moved to the auditorium?
Due to limited seating in the auditorium, each graduation participant will receive two guest tickets.  Watch for these tickets when you receive your cap & gown at graduation practice.  Lost tickets cannot be replaced.  Admission to an indoor ceremony will be by ticket only.  If a student has additional guests, they will be able to watch the ceremony via live television from multiple locations in the high school or through their local cable provider (Families are encouraged to check in advance to ensure they have access to PRTV.).

What do students wear to graduation?
All students participating in the ceremony are required to wear caps and gowns.  The young ladies will wear a white cap & gown. It is suggested they wear light colored clothing with shoes that will be comfortable for walking.  The young gentlemen will wear a dark green cap & gown. It is suggested that they wear a light colored shirt, tie, dark pants and dark shoes.

The graduation ceremony is a formal event that honors the graduates.  Please participate in this event by respecting the students, their families, distinguished speakers and most importantly yourself.  Thank you in advance for your effort to reinforce respectful behavior.

Sincerely,
Nancy Bowman, Principal
Pine-Richland High School
