Students Participate in PMEA Sing Fest

Singfest Five students from Eden Hall Upper Elementary School participated in the PMEA District 1 Sing Fest West, held on March 4, 2016 at Baldwin High School.

Music teacher Joy Hess said the students included Colin Argot, Norah Carter, Evan Dougal, Asher Harrington and Everett Harrington.

Students had the opportunity to work with guest conductor Rachel Pollard, who is a teacher in the Fox Chapel School District and an adjunct professor at Duquesne University. She holds certifications in the Orff Schulwerk Pedagogy and Estill Vocal Training. Mrs. Pollard led students in vocal technique, musical style, and stage presence. The group capped off the day with a concert.

The event brought together 130 students from 24 school districts around the Pittsburgh area. The program is an honors choir for fifth and sixth graders. About 300 students were nominated by their directors, and a selection committee narrowed participants down to 130.
