Students Earn Awards at Science Fair
Pine-Richland High School students earned awards at the Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair, which was held April 1-2, 2016 at the Heinz Field and Carnegie Science Center.
Ninth grader Arjan Guglani earned first place in the senior division in computer science and math. His project title was called “NEXXT FLIGHT – Reinventing Emergency Landings.” In addition to first place, he earned a Naval Science Award and US Air Force Award.
Sophomore Chelsea Carver earned third place in computer science and the Coverstro LLC Title Sponsor Award. Her project “My Time Guru,” is an app that helps students manage their tech time.
In addition, ninth grader Devin Golla earned a sponsor award.

Congratulations to all the high school participants including eleventh grader Arushi Bandi, who earned a college scholarship, and ninth grader Kiera Regan and sophomore Allison Lehman.
Students participated in this 77th annual event under the direction of PRHS Teacher Ron Schmiedel.

They included: Tejal Gupta (Grade 8) - individual project titled: If You Know You Will Win, It Isn’t a Risk!
Kasia Kalinski and Natalie Loftus L to R (Grade 7) - Group project titled: Left Brain/Right Brain Illusion Perception.
More than 1,100 students in grades from 6-12 from 100 schools from the 23 counties within Western Pennsylvania and one county in Maryland competed.
