Teachers Put Spin on Studies
Wexford Elementary School second-grade
teachers put a unique spin on the language arts and social
studies curriculum. They focused on Everyday Heroes. The teachers
invited guest speakers to Wexford as representatives of everyday heroes in
our community.
“The best part of my job is that I get to see kids at schools at Pine-Richland,” said Dr. Brian Miller, superintendent.
Students were eager to ask the superintendent dozens of questions including his career path, favorite teacher when he went to school and some of his job duties.
Teachers Michelle Franitti, Lisa Olson, Leslie Doane, Margo Kohler and Julie Seifert collaborated on the project.
The teachers also said students had a chance to read biographies of famous heroes like Jackie Robinson. Each primary school including Hance and Richland have been focusing on essential questions around the topic of heroes and incorporating it into a project.
