Teachers Take Learner's Seat for Week
Pine-Richland School District elementary teachers took off their teaching hats
and put on their thinking caps during summer break. They worked to fine tune
their skills in the art of teaching writing during a week-long workshop.
Facilitator
Richard Koch emphasizes to educators
and students that writing can be a journey of improvement with feedback from
peers. The workshop helped teachers fine tune their skills in the art of
writing and was a second part of a two-part grant funded by the Pine-Richland
Opportunities Fund through the Western
PA Writing Project in association with the National Writing Project.
During the
first grant, Mr. Koch worked with students directly to model effective writing lessons for teachers to see firsthand.
Elementary teachers Kathleen Giegle and
Bonnie Allessi teamed up to write and oversee the grant project with the help
of fellow teachers.
The
Pine-Richland Communications & Media Services Department produced a video to highlight the week-long professional development
session.
