Important Information about PSSAs
Dear Parents/Guardians of students in grades 3-8:
We are nearing that time again when Pine-Richland School District will administer the Pennsylvania System of School Assessments (PSSAs) Tests.
The assessments will be administered in the morning during the following testing windows:
English Language Arts | Grades 3-8 | April 3-7, 2017 |
Mathematics | Grades 3-8 | April 24-28, 2017 |
Science | Grades 4 & 8 | May 1-5, 2017 |
Make-Up | Grades 3-8 | May 8-12, 2017 |
As you may recall the annual Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) is a standards-
based assessment used to measure a student's attainment of the academic standards while also determining the degree to which school programs enable students to attain proficiency of the
standards. Every student in the public school system in grades:
- 3-8 are assessed in English Language Arts (a combined test of Reading & Writing) & Mathematics.
- 4 and 8 are assessed in Science.
Student scores can be used to assist teachers in identifying students who may be in need of
additional educational opportunities, and school scores provide information to schools and districts
for curriculum and instruction improvement discussions and planning.
Please support your children in achieving the very best on the PSSAs by ensuring they get
plenty of rest, eat a good breakfast and arrive at school on time.
