February 28, 2017 Greetings to Pine-Richland Students, Parents and Community,
When the strategic plan was developed for 2015 - 2019, specific attention was given to the implementation of the plan. I provided an update on six key initiatives from this year's action plan in my update last month. Ms. Hathhorn, Director of Communications, ensures that the district website is up-to-date with the full scope of projects and initiatives. Please visit the website for more information about each category of the plan. In the Communication and Engagement section of the plan, we are specifically focused on gathering information from students, parents, and staff. We have administered an electronic survey to parents for the past two years. The parent survey will again be distributed in the late spring. In addition, we are in the process of developing annual staff and student surveys. The student surveys will be made available to grades 3, 6, 8, and 12. Participation will be optional and anonymous. More information and the specific student survey questions will be made available to parents prior to administration. In this way, parents can determine whether they would like their child(ren) to complete the survey.

Students, parents, staff and community members provide input during a Science & Health/Physical Education Review Session. |
In the Teaching and Learning section of the plan, the in-depth program review process is focused on science and health/physical education this year. Over the past five months, teams of staff members from all six buildings have been working to identify a set of emerging recommendations for program improvement. A community meeting was held on February 21st during the day and in the evening to gather student and parent input. We appreciate the time and perspective shared by both groups. |
