Athletes Participate in Signing Day

PRHS Seniors Participate in National Signing Day
Pine-Richland High School athletes participated in National Signing Day on February 1, 2017. Here is a profile on each senior who signed this February with an official letter of intent or celebratory signing. Click on this link for athletes who signed in November of 2016.
Football
Senior Tanner Douglas
Lamar University
Senior Tanner Douglas signed to play football as a wide receiver for Lamar University. He is currently undecided in his studies. Tanner says that some of his top highlights while at Pine-Richland include two interceptions during game against Mt. Lebanon and breaking the interception season while playing Penn Hills. He was named to the 2016 Northern Seven 2nd team All-Conference. He had an 85-yard punt return during the Pine-Richland Peters Township game. Academically, Tanner earned honor roll his junior year. He is also participating in the spring musical. “This offer to play college football is everything that I’ve always dreamed of doing,” said senior Tanner Douglas.
Senior Ryan Duran
United States Military Academy at West Point
Senior Ryan Duran earned a full scholarship to the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he plans on studying economics and playing football as a defensive end. He was named to the 1st Team All-Conference during his junior and senior years. He broke a career- sack record for Pine-Richland. He is an honor roll student, who takes advanced placement courses.
“This means everything and is very important to me,” said senior Ryan Duran. “I am going to be able to receive an outstanding education along with an exceptional football career and have the opportunity to serve our country.”
Senior Max Devinney
Shippensburg University
Senior Max DeVinney signed to play football at Shippensburg University, where he will major in exercise science and play football. He is a quarterback who has logged 1,709 yards passing, 12 touchdowns and 122 yards in only six games in 2016. He is proud to have helped take the Rams to the WPIAL semi-finals in 2016 and will never forget about being a part of the WPIAL win and earning the PIAA runner-up. “I’m extremely excited to play for the Red Raiders and Coach Mac at Shippensburg,” said Max Devinney. “I could not have asked for a better place to further my football and my academics. When I visited the campus and met the team, I knew that Shippensburg was the obvious choice.”
Senior Grant Carrigan
University of Pittsburgh
Senior Grant Carrigan signed to play football at the University of Pittsburgh. Grant will play defensive end at Pitt. He was named to the 2016 Northern Seven Honorable Mention All-Conference Team.
Senior Mark Weideman
Duquesne University
Senior Mark Weideman has signed to play football at Duquesne University. The lineman was named 1st Team All-Conference in the Class 6A Northern Seven Conference as offensive guard. He was also voted a team captain on the Rams.
Congratulatory Ceremonial Signings - Soccer
Senior Christine Ciarrocca
Miami University of Ohio
Senior Christine Cirrocca participated in a ceremonial signing day hosted by the Pittsburgh River Hounds Development Academy on Feb. 1, 2017 at Highmark Stadium. Christine is planning on playing soccer as a midfielder/defender at Miami University of Ohio, where she will major in business. She has started and lettered all four years. She was named team captain her senior year. During the 2016 season, she was named to the WPIAL Section One AAAA 1st Team as a defender as in 2015, an All WPIAL 1st Team as a defender and a Big 56 Conference 1st Team defender. She played for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Development Academy Club Team and played in the US Club Soccer Nationals in July of 2016. She earned honor roll status for all four years at PRHS. “This is a great opportunity to continue my academic and athletic career at a top university,” said senior Christine Ciarrocca. “This culminates many years of training and dedication honing my soccer skills on the club and high school levels. It is a great honor for myself and my family.”
Kacey Croner
Indiana University of Pennsylvania
Senior Kacey Croner participated in a ceremonial signing to play soccer at Indiana University of Pennsylvania as a forward and study physical and health education. She played on the varsity team for four years and lettered two. The senior cites one of her favorite memories is shooting the winning goal against North Allegheny High School her sophomore year. She has participated in Track and Field at PRHS. She earned the honor roll her junior and senior years. Kacey has volunteered her time and enjoys working with children with special needs.
“I look forward to continue playing the sport I love,” Senior Kacey Croner said.
Ingrida Ivaska
Rochester Institute of Technology
Senior Ingrida Ivaska participated in a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) celebratory signing on Feb. 1, 2017. Ingrida announced her plans to play soccer as a goalkeeper at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where she will study Game Design and Development. She is a 2015 and 2016 All-Section player. In 2015, she was named an All-WPIAL player. Interestingly, she played ice hockey for seven years. She played during her ninth grade year, when there was a freshman team. She serves as a referee for both soccer and hockey and is a member of the marching and concert band. She earned PRHS Math Department and Physical Education Department awards. She has earned honor roll status and served as treasurer for the Programming Club. She volunteers at her church, for World Vision and for the PRHS Key Club. Notably, she works at Panera before starting her school day.
“I am so excited to have the opportunity to attend one of the best schools for my major and to be able to play soccer at the collegiate level,” said senior Ingrida Ivaska.
Senior Kaitlin McGuire
Senior Kaitlin McGuire participated in a congratulatory ceremonial signing as she makes plans to play soccer at Baldwin Wallace University, where she will study speech language pathology. Notably, she scored the first goal against North Allegheny School District on NA’s turf. She’s earned honor roll all four years and participates in concert choir, ski club and key club.
“It makes me excited for the future, and I am grateful for this opportunity,” said senior Kaitlin McGuire.
Senior Cassidy Ulanowicz
Penn State University Behrand Campus
Senior Cassidy Ulanowicz participated in congratulatory signing with Penn State University Behrand Campus, where she will play defense and as a forward in soccer. She plans to major in biology. She has lettered for three years at the varsity level. She earned second place in the US Club Nationals in 2015 and is a nine-cup champion in 2016. She has been a merit scholar since seventh grade and earned the Teen Living Award in ninth grade. She has volunteered for the IShine Bike Program, which helps children with disabilities ride bicycles designed especially for them.
“This offer means that I can continue playing the game I love,” senior Cassidy Ulanowicz. “It means that there are new challenges and experiences in my future.”
