Lacrosse Team Hosts HEADstrong Event

On Saturday, April 26, 2014, the Pine-Richland High School/Middle School boys and girls lacrosse teams hosted the second annual HEADstrong event “A Day of Lacrosse” in honor of PR student Kyle Pomerleau.  Over one hundred student and parent volunteers, fifteen PR booster/PTO organizations and community businesses, provided donations by volunteering their time, as well as baskets for the raffle, silent auction donations, and HEADstrong cash donations.

A total of $6,752.28 was raised in honor of Pomerleau and donated to the HEADstrong Foundation, an organization that is committed to being a resource for blood cancer patients and their families.  Their mission is to improve the quality of life for those affected by blood cancers and support those working to eliminate the disease.

Pomerleau demonstrated the “Stay Strong” theme of the day when he walked to the center of the field to participate in the captains’ pre-game activities.

Lacrosse teams from Seneca Valley, Mount Lebanon, and Knoch all participated in the day of lacrosse.
