April 5, 2013 Dear Parents/Guardians & Community Members: As promised, the Pine-Richland School Board is providing you with an important update in the search for superintendent. After a great deal of work and several rounds of interviews, the board is pleased to announce that it has narrowed the search down to a single candidate. The board plans to vote on Monday, April 8, 2013 to appoint Dr. Brian R. Miller, who currently serves as assistant superintendent of K-12 education at North Allegheny School District. Dr. Miller has an excellent record of accomplishment at North Allegheny School District, where he began teaching in 1996. Prior to appointment as assistant superintendent of K-12 education at North Allegheny, Dr. Miller had served in many roles at the building and district levels including assistant superintendent for secondary education and curriculum, assistant superintendent of curriculum, principal at Carson Middle School, and assistant principal at Ingomar Middle School. Dr. Miller earned his doctorate and Superintendent Letter of Eligibility by completing the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program for Educational Leadership at Duquesne University. He completed a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Carlow University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Penn State University. He is enrolled in the Master of Business Administration Program at Carlow University. Dr. Miller, who comes highly recommended, received his current commission as assistant superintendent through June 30, 2014 from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. We will provide you with additional information following the Pine-Richland School Board Planning meeting on Monday, April 8, 2013. This is a regularly scheduled meeting, which will take place in the DeWitt Blank Conference Room located in the Pine-Richland School District Offices at 702 Warrendale Rd., Gibsonia, PA 15044.
