June Message from Superintendent
June 22, 2018
Greetings to Pine-Richland Students, Parents and Community,
I hope that our students and families are enjoying the first few weeks of summer. The commencement ceremony for the Class of 2018 served as a reminder of the importance of education and the tremendous responsibility of educators. Building on the foundation for learning and development in the home, we have the opportunity to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and character of students through their time in our schools. Together, we help your children / our graduates pursue their dreams. As always, one of my favorite moments of our ceremony is when the three kindergarten representatives address the graduates and their families. Some people go a lifetime without speaking to an audience of 5,000…these students now have that experience at age six.
On Monday, June 18th, the Pine-Richland Education Association and the Pine-Richland School Board voted to approve a collective bargaining agreement that runs from July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2024. The negotiations process was conducted with mutual respect and the result allows us to focus on the development of children at Pine-Richland. The teacher makes the difference in the classroom. Our staff looks forward to the pursuit of continuous improvement to make an even greater impact on the lives of students.
Thank you to the 839 parents who completed the annual survey. Now administered for the fourth year and with the largest number of respondents yet, overall results show the following:
We will share more detailed updates over the summer that include activities related to the 60th anniversary of the Pine-Richland School District. We will also publish the Annual Report as a comprehensive summary of the past year. Of important note, we will soon begin the strategic planning process for 2019 – 2023. As key stakeholders in our district, you will be invited to engage in that process to help guide organizational priorities. As another example of parent voice in our work, we use results from annual surveys to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement.
Thank you again for your commitment to the students and families of the Pine-Richland School District.
